CLARAA
From Childhood Fascination to an International Career
CLARAA discovered electronic music at the age of eight while riding in the car with her brother, who listened to techno. By the age of ten, she was recording tracks onto CDs for her Walkman, quickly turning it into a creative passion—especially compiling mixes for her cousin’s summer parties. Her passion continued to grow over the years, and by sixteen, she was deeply immersed in the world of charts and the electronic music scene.
From Passion to Professionalism
After moving to Miami, where she spent six years, she began exploring the DJ world through friends who were DJs themselves. She later moved to Barcelona to fully dedicate herself to music and pursue creating tracks professionally.
Milestones in CLARAA’s Career
Her first steps in DJing date back to 2020. Fascinated by Afro-inspired sounds, she also longed for the synthetic harmonies and electrifying melodies of ’90s techno. This fusion of styles became the foundation of her unique sound. To transition from DJ to producer, she took a music production course—a crucial step in her artistic development that led to the release of her EP, “Starlight.”
“Kukaya” – Returning to Roots and Collaborating with Moblack Records
“Kukaya” was born on a beach in Zanzibar, where CLARAA recorded distinctive tribal vocals on her phone. A few weeks later, she refined the material and created a full version together with the artist Ashimba. The EP was widely played in 2023 and became a significant milestone in her career.
Sound Design, Collaborations, and the Creative Process
CLARAA always seeks a strong groove and layered, electrifying melodies. She uses any equipment or plugins that resonate with her, and thanks to her IT background and technical skills, she can fully harness the potential of her DAWs.
Although she honed her skills independently for years, she now increasingly values collaboration—inviting musicians such as drummers, pianists, and vocalists. This not only deepens her music but also opens new opportunities for other artists.
Key Performances and Magical Moments on Stage
Some of her most memorable sets include Les Plages Electroniques in Cannes and the Moblack Stage at Electric Castle in Romania, where audiences were open, energetic, and enthusiastic. At the same time, CLARAA never forgets smaller, intimate gigs: clubs in Barcelona, beaches in Africa, and performances in India and Thailand—each experience is unique to her.
Music as Therapy and a Source of Strength
Her breakup in 2024 was a critical moment—an emotionally challenging experience that she processed through intensive studio work. For CLARAA, music is both a creative act and a form of healing—a mutually dependent process.
Discipline and Daily Passion
Even on days when she would rather rest, she sits in the studio or searches for new sounds because she knows it will make her feel better. She believes that consistency and daily work are essential for artistic growth.
Advice for Young DJs and Producers
CLARAA advises not to focus solely on goals such as clubs or contracts but to enjoy the creative process itself. Authenticity and staying true to your values are the foundation of a lasting career. Being an artist is not only about talent but also about continual improvement, overcoming doubts, and acting out of a genuine desire to share music, rather than for egoistic reasons.
AI in Music: A Tool, Not a Substitute
Although AI can inspire and help with learning, CLARAA does not see it as a replacement for the creative process. She believes human authenticity remains irreplaceable, and listeners will ultimately decide what has lasting value.
The Future: Own Releases, New Collaborations, and Studio Work
In the coming months, new tracks will be released, including a remix for WeAreIdyll Records. She also plans to launch her own label and collaborate with favorite artists. After an intensive summer season, CLARAA will return to the studio—possibly before a new tour in India.
